WRESTLER MATT CROSS (SON OF HAVOC) IS INTERVIEWED ABOUT HIS PUNK ROCK HISTORY

Things seem to work out in funny ways.  As a long time fan of what I consider an art, I was obviously stoked to do my first interview ever with a pro wrestler. Keith Lee of ROH and Inspire Pro came by the studio to do a podcast with me and my buddy John Tole who has played in a bunch of bands like Pitboss 2000, Ringworm, and the infamous OLC.

We went to that night’s Inspire card which was stacked with talent. One of the matches featured Matt Cross,  a straight edge wrestler from Cleveland that has been setting the independent wrestling world on fire for years now. Being on television’s Lucha Underground has certainly propelled him to new heights. Infact, Cross was the one that really had me excited about the already amazing event.

I’m a pretty shy person but on a whim I decided to approach Matt Cross after the show.  He noticed my Cleveland Indians hat and asked if I was from the area. We started talking and I told him how I directed Destroy Cleveland.  Matt lit up and said he recently heard about the movie and has been trying to track down a copy. It was a serendipitous moment.

He then told me how he used to go see One Life Crew and Pitboss 2000.  John was standing right behind me so in a funny, slightly, awkward, and awesome moment, I said “well, this is John from Pitboss standing right next to me.”  Everyone was pumped and the rest is history. We had an amazing two hour conversation where we talk about punk rock, straight edge, and wrestling.  I divided everything up to make this a two parter.  This one features a wild story about a bloody Earth Crisis show with both One Life Crew and a young Matt Cross in attendance.  This is synchronicity in motion.
